2020 was a year of both challenges and resilience. A year in which we adapted to new ways of living, learning, and working amid stressors that we have never experienced before. Businesses had to seek new ways to persevere and adapt, whether that was reprioritizing initiatives, transitioning to a remote workforce, or finding creative ways to keep employees safe in essential business locations.
In February of 2020, just before the pandemic arrived, GracoRoberts relocated from Fort Worth, TX to our new headquarters in Arlington, TX. The move granted us the ability to gain efficiency, maximize our capacity for growth, and better serve our customer base across the United States. Our new facility features 50,000 square feet of space, an H2 room for flammable chemicals, and two temperature-controlled rooms. This easily accessible and expansive location was critical in providing essential businesses the materials they needed as we entered the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Due to the unexpected surge in demand, hand sanitizer and disinfecting products became extremely scarce online and in-stores. GracoRoberts quickly formed new relationships with suppliers to provide our customers EPA-approved disinfectants and cleaners to help workplaces combat COVID-19 and prepare for the safe reopening of their businesses. GracoRoberts assisted customers by making IPA hand sanitizer readily available in our five stocking locations, and offered other products like Fantastik Multi-Surface Cleaner, Scrubbing Bubbles Disinfectant, SATWIPES Solvent Wiping Systems, and Windex Multi-Surface Cleaner.
These unprecedented times were a prime opportunity for the aerospace business community to take advantage of virtual tools and resources. To help customers adapt, GracoRoberts showcased the top 6 tools we offer to help stay connected – no matter the circumstances. Our ecommerce website, dialogue with technical experts, TDS SDS library, video library, online quote request form, and resident Chemist Q&A have continued to be successful in supporting our customers all over the world.
During the Fall, we completed the construction of our new, world-class Resin Formulators facility. Resin Formulators, the custom formulation division of GracoRoberts, is the time-tested and trusted brand of epoxy resins that can be uniquely customized, tested and certified on-demand. Our new facility is complete with an on-staff chemist and lab technician, a team of formulators, dispensers, labelers, and packagers, three times the stocking and freezer space, upgraded production machinery and packaging equipment, and a new laboratory designed for state-of-the-art product development and in-house mechanical testing capabilities. Customers choose Resin Formulators to reduce material costs and achieve lot-to-lot consistency for their aerospace, electronics, electric vehicle, composites, and other advanced manufacturing applications.
2020 was a year of continued support and collaboration with our trusted suppliers. GracoRoberts was named an Authorized Distributor for Henkel Electronics, an addition that complements our existing Henkel Aerospace and Industrial partnerships. This partnership helps us more completely serve the aerospace electronics market and offer an even larger breadth of solutions to customers in the broader electronics industry.
GracoRoberts closed out the year with some exciting news - announcing that we acquired Able Aerospace Adhesives to extend our footprint in the international aerospace specialty chemicals market. The acquisition delivers a combined 175+ years of aerospace relationships and expertise, with an even deeper concentration in the military and MRO markets. This acquisition cemented GracoRoberts’ position as the largest and most specification-driven aerospace specialty chemicals distributor in North America. We look forward to continuous improvement and growth while providing our superior engineered materials and impeccable support to our customers and suppliers.
