RT455 Thermal Ablative Compound A/B/C
RT455 is a three-part, low density ablative thermal system widely used for critical aerospace, laser and industrial applications due to its superior thermal, vibration damping and low weight, high-packing characteristics.

This 100% solids, smooth, trowellable paste cures at room temperature in 8 to 12 hours, and develops strong bonds to metals, ceramics, glass and glass fabrics, and many rigid plastics. The fully cured compound has excellent dimensional stability over a wide temperature range, and provides outstanding low temperature mechanical damping and impact resistance in conjunction with its low thermal conductivity profile.
It has excellent resistance to corrosion from water, weather, gases and vapors such as ozone, mild acids and alkalis, salts and salt solutions, petroleum products, lubricants and other organic and inorganic materials. This system can be painted without primer eight hours after application.
RT455 has been effectively used for close out and patching of solid rocket booster components for thermal protection and vibration damping. It has been used to fill voids, fairing out tubing and wires, and to protect surface protrusions on hypersonic re-entry bodies, nose cones and aircraft. It is an effective cushioning, impact-absorbing and energy absorbing material. Uses include encapsulation of inductive coils, laser absorbers, conformal coatings, and explosive charge retention.
