Resin Formulators Shore Hardness (00, A, D) Testing Per ASTM D2240 (Includes 3 Individual Results and Average)
Shore Hardness (00, A, D) Test
Resin Formulators now offers advanced lab testing for its own Resin Formulators epoxy resins, as well as specialty chemicals manufactured by other suppliers.
The primary purpose of the Shore Hardness Test is to measure the resistance of a material to indentation, providing insight into its flexibility, durability, and suitability for specific applications. Hardness is a measure of how hard the surface of a substance is. The harder the surface of a coating, the more abrasion resistant it is.

Product Information
This is tested with a Durometer which accurately measures the hardness of the surface of a cured resin. A Shore 00/A/D testing device is used to assess a wide range of material hardnesses. Because the hardness increases with degree of cure, the test is conducted after 5 days of cure at room temperature, or following an appropriate oven curing profile for the material in question. The results of a hardness test can also be important for comparative purposes or determining the degree of cure.
